Information we collect

For creators: the email address you sign up with, and the courses and content you create.

For learners: we do not require an account and do not collect personal profile data. To make the learning experience work we store your progress locally in your own browser. If anonymous analytics is enabled, we record non-identifying events (for example, that a course was started or a card was viewed) tied to a random session identifier, not to you personally.

Automatically: limited technical information needed to run and protect the service, such as request metadata. Where we retain an IP address for abuse investigation, we store it only in hashed form, never in the clear.

How we use information

We use information to provide and maintain the service, to let creators publish and manage courses, to give creators aggregate insight into how their courses are performing, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

Anonymous analytics and your choice

Learner analytics is anonymous and optional. The player shows a short notice and lets you decline; if you decline, analytics events are not sent, and your progress still works. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal information.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser storage that is necessary to run the service, such as keeping creators signed in and remembering a learner's place in a course and their analytics choice. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Sharing information

We share information only with service providers that help us run Courselet (for example, hosting and database infrastructure), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate obligations.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Creators can delete their courses, and account deletion is available on request via our support contact. Anonymous analytics is retained in aggregate for product insight.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. Because learner analytics is anonymous, we may be unable to link it to a specific individual.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond appropriately to any incident.

Children

Courselet is not directed to children, and creators should not create accounts for anyone below the minimum age permitted in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where we do, we take steps to ensure it receives appropriate protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.

We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the date at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review it periodically.
